What RigWise HQ is

RigWise HQ is a small set of free calculators and plain-English guides for people who tow, haul, ride, and move. No accounts, no email capture, no sponsored rankings. Every tool runs in your browser, and every guide shows its reasoning, because a number you cannot check is just an opinion with decimals. Most calculators here are paired with guides that work real examples with real numbers, so you can see exactly where an answer came from before you act on it.

The four sections

Towing and payload. Check a truck and trailer combination against tow rating, payload, and tongue weight. The guides cover door-sticker numbers, the 10–15% tongue weight rule, weight distribution hitches, and electric trailer brakes.

Tires. Compare two tire sizes for diameter, speedometer error, and clearance change. The guides decode sidewall markings, explain load range and load index, and lay out rotation patterns by drivetrain.

Motorcycle helmets. Map your head measurement to the size charts for Shoei, Arai, HJC, and Bell. The guides cover measuring, fit checks, safety standards like DOT and ECE 22.06, and when a helmet is done.

Moving costs. Compare DIY truck rental, moving containers, and full-service movers with honest ranges and line items. The guides cover what drives the price, supplies math, and rental truck sizes.

How the calculators work

Each calculator starts from numbers you already have: door-sticker payload, the tire size on your sidewall, your head circumference, your home size and moving distance. The tools do the arithmetic carefully and in the open, and where a manufacturer rating is involved they tell you to verify against your own vehicle's labels. Estimates are starting points, not guarantees.

Common questions

Is RigWise HQ really free? Yes. The calculators and guides are free with no signup. The site is supported by advertising.

Where do the numbers come from? Manufacturer-published ratings, tire load and inflation tables, and published moving cost data, with sources noted on the pages themselves.

Should I trust a calculator over my owner's manual? No. Your manual and door-jamb sticker outrank any website, including this one. The tools exist to help you understand the math and check it.
